What is Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine believes that returning clients to health is only possible by looking firstly at the root causes of disease. Each client is taken care of individually, and each treatment plan is tailor made based on the principles below.

Understanding the biochemical individuality of each client based taking into account genes and environmental influences.
A Client Centered Care approach (CCC)
Looking for the best approach towards the patient’s health, including at the level of the mind and spirit.
Promoting and improving patient health-span rather than just life-span.
Identification of a person’s health level based on vitality and not just on the absence of diseases.

To obtain the best result from functional medicine requires extensive client history taking, a physical examination and specialized laboratory testing based on the individual’s specific requirements. Solutions to health challenges includes empowering our clients to manage their diets, nutritional supplements, stress reduction and appropriate physical activity.

We believe in having a two-way-communication with our client before providing tailor-made treatment plans, taking into account the clients need and preferences in order to achieve full engagement for each patient with their treatment plans.

What makes Functional Medicine difference?

Evaluating organs and systems function, and underlying biochemical risks is more important than than looking annually to see if you have a specific disease.

Functional medicine lab tests may examine blood, stool, urine, or saliva. These tests check your nutritional status, blood cells, risk of inflammation and free radical stress and more.

In addition, all of our checkup services include assessments of Stress, Fitness, musculoskeletal integrity, along with Nutrition and Mind consultations with experienced health practitioners and doctors.

What should I know about Physiotherapy Assessment?

Our experienced physiotherapist will conduct a thorough assessment of the body looking for musculoskeletal imbalances, injuries and unwanted limitations in movement. Part of their report includes a forward-looking assessment to see where your body is at risk of injury or pain, should imbalances not be addressed adequately.

What should I know about Mental Fitness Assessment?

Our mental state is not a separate issue to our overall health. We should not ignore issues such as lingering depressed moods, heart palpitations, the repetitive thoughts or the feelings of never ending pressure.

The mental fitness assessment is a simple test to measure your ability to consciously relax, which is one of the best indicators of mental and emotional resilience.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is actually a very natural state of mind. It’s like the wonderful feeling of yourself, lying on your sofa, and being so comfortable and relaxed. At this time, with the help of a trained therapist, you will be able to focus more attention on, or visualize yourself becoming healthier, more confident or whatever it is that you want to be.

This does not mean that the entire therapy is done in hypnosis. Half of the time, the therapist will engage in conversation with you to assess your issues and collaborate with you to find a solution and a goal. In hypnosis, the therapist will guide you to make those solutions and goals work for you by utilising the power of your own mind.

During a hypnotherapy session, your therapist does not hypnotise you; rather they serve as a coach to guide you into that state because hypnosis is a naturally occurring state. How many times have you driven your car to work, only to realise that suddenly you reached your destination without being consciously aware of the journey or which turns you made? Have you ever watched a move and enjoyed yourself so much so that you forgotten that you are in a cinema with 100 other people? Hypnosis feels something like that.

Hypnotherapy is actually a two way process. It is a professional relationship between the therapist and the client. Both parties have to co-operate with each other before one can be put it the hypnotic state.

Remember,

While in hypnosis no one can make you do things that you do not want to do. Hypnosis for the helping profession and stage hypnosis are two separate fields.

You will always be in-control: You cannot be forced to do things you do not want to do.

You will always wake up: You cannot get stuck in hypnosis. The most that could happen is that you doze off into sleep and would wake up naturally.

It is a collaboration: Hypnotherapy is a collaboration between the therapist and the client. The therapist does not forces you to change your habits or make your goals for you. A mutual goal is made together before the hypnosis begins.

You won’t do things against your will. Should your therapist suggest something that is not relevant, or not agreeable to you, your mind will not accept it and thus won’t be affected.

Your rights are always protected. All therapists are bound by a professional code of ethics. The content of the therapy sessions will be kept highly confidential between you and your therapist
